Ski Vacation At Jackson Hole, Wyoming

The ski vacation of 2006 was in Wyoming (yes, I left Meirav and David back in Fort Lauderdale, but I came back in one piece, didn't I). I flew to Jackson and "leisured it in style" any time I wasn't outdoors. Dan and Caitlin had a three family apartment at the Four Seasons in Teton Village and I'll be forever thankful for their choosing to invite me there (in fact we were all invited, but as Meirav does not ski we decided against the long production of schlepping the whole gang from the South-East to the North-West).

The first part of this album shows pictures from the trails, while the second part has pictures from our snowmobile trip to Yellowstone.

In terms of skiing, this resort probably has the most difficult trails of all resorts I've been to. I skied primarily intermediate trails, with some of them being as challenging as the one diamond trails out East. For various reasons (including the long waiting at the tram, which is in fact in its last season of operation), I never made it to the top, to see the area where advanced skiers were in search of fresh powder, in an area with rocks and drops. Talking about fresh powder, we had it every day, as it snowed at least two inches every night.

I wound up in Yellowstone by chance.  After two days of skiing we decided to rest our legs and chose to take a day to visit the National Park via snowmobile.  Yellowstone looks superb in winter time, especially with the contrast between the white of the snow and the various colors of the sediments around the geysers' mouths.  On our way there we saw a couple of cow-moose and Yellowstone had several herds of buffaloes.
